This presentation of the ArtNow! series at Tucson's MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) features author and occult expert Dr. Paul Koudounaris, who will narrate the history of animal ghosts and apparitions, and present a slideshow based around fully documented cases. As part of the program, Dr. Koudounaris will discuss the role in ghost lore of phantom animals throughout history: Some search for their masters; others appear out of nowhere to do good deeds; still others seem intent on wreaking havoc; and then there are those that are just bizarre. Dr. Paul Koudounaris is an award-winning author and photographer, best known for a series of three books on the visual culture of death. ArtNow! gives audiences the opportunity to share thoughts on the wildly disparate practices and objects collectively known as “the art of our time.” Guests are encouraged to participate, share, and engage in this playful rendition upending the traditional art history lecture format.?
