Kitt Peak National Observatory - Night Tour

Más Información

Join an adventure featuring nighttime optical and infrared astronomy on a group tour of Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO), in the Quinlan Mountains, west of Tucson, home to the most diverse collection of astronomical observatories on Earth. The tour, offered by Pleasurebent Tours, starts at the Kitt Peak Visitor Center for an examination of the astronomy exhibits and a meeting with the observatory's docents. Included will be an introduction to astronomy and the night sky, presented over a box lunch. After a short walk to view the sunset, the group will learn how to identify stars and constellations and be given an opportunity to explore the night skies with high-powered binoculars before viewing impossibly distant objects through the 2.1-meter domed telescope. Warm clothes are a must. Good walking shoes (closed toe), pants (not shorts) and a jacket are highly recommended. (In case of inclement weather, we reserve the right to insert an alternate astronomy program presented by Kitt Peak.)
