National Public Gardens Day takes place during the week after Mother's Day (May 12, 2019) to raise awareness of the important role our country's botanical gardens and arboreta play in promoting environmental stewardship, plant and water conservation, green spaces, and education in communities nationwide. In Tucson, this is an especially good day to visit Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Catalina State Park, Madera Canyon, Native Seed/SEARCH , Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Reid Park Rose Garden, Sabino Canyon, Saguaro National Park, Tohono Chul, Tucson Botanical Gardens , Tucson Mountain Park , Yume Japanese Gardens, and the University of Arizona Campus Arboretum.
